ETHICS
AND VALUES
PART 2
SEBACEOUS ADENITIS:
Until December of 2003, Cerebus did not do skin
biopsies for this disease. That is until it showed up
in a puppy that I bred back in 1997. Because this
disease can strike at anytime during a dog's life;
and until a genetic test becomes available, a skin
punch biopsy will be preformed on every Samoyed here
at Cerebus before a breeding is to take place. The
biopsy will be sent to Texas A & M University for a
diagnoses. See Chad's Story on Sebaceous Adenitis.
~ Cerebus guarantees for LIFE against Sebaceous
Adenitits (SA) (pathology report from dermatologist
lab must be done) ~
THYROID:
A complete Thyroid panel is sent to Michigan State
University. All breeding stock must to 'Normal'
without medication and results are sent to OFA.
TEMPERAMENT:
All dogs must have the correct temperament for their
breed. A Samoyed should be very loving and friendly
to everyone. Shyness and aggressiveness is NOT
tolerated in the Samoyed. On the other hand, an Akita
is very loyal and regal. Very protective of his
family and territory, but knows the difference
between a threat and non-threat. With either breed,
you must breed an outgoing puppy who will be able to
adjust to any situation it may encounter without
feeling threatened.
One might not think temperament is genetic...it is!
BEAUTY:
Whether you purchase a puppy for show or
companionship, I strive to produce Samoyeds and
Akitas anyone would be proud to own.
What we expect from my buyers is simple: Love,
Health, and Commitment to their dogs. We put a
tremendous amount of time making sure the puppies get
a good start in life, we want to see the same from
the owners.
All companion puppies are sold on a Limited
Registration and are spayed or neutered before
leaving to their new homes.
If you are ready to commit your love and time to a
dog for the next 12-14 years, please look around our
website.
